BSIL Hume Learning’s Diploma of Management is a fantastic way for you develop/ enhance your management and leadership skills, to help grow your business capabilities to their full potential.
This particular program will be tailored to working women that is women who own and operate their own business or are managers, team leaders or supervisor who are looking to:

·        Learn critical and current management principles, tools and techniques

Please note this program is limited to only 15 participants.

The Diploma program is a leading Australian business management qualification. Delivered over 12-18 month period comprising of an induction session, workshops and a graduation ceremony.

 
The course is scheduled to commence in June 2011 till November 2011 and will comprise of both face to face sessions and online assessments and learning.
Participants will enjoy the interactive workshops, online options and project work that explore issues, share experiences and maintain high flexibility to obtain optimum results for each participant. The focus is more on “how-to” apply the business principals rather than “what-are” the business principals.

Course Fees/ Eligibility
The Diploma of Management is available to all business owners and employees. To be eligible for this program participants must be an Australian Citizen and employed on a fulltime or part time basis.
The only cost is the mandatory enrolment fee of $424.00.

Description of each unit of the Diploma of management

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are engaged to manage the work of others or to add value to or review management practices. Their role may be in any industry or organisational setting. Typically people in these roles will have considerable experience in their respective industries or vocational areas and couple an informed perspective of the specific work requirements with their managerial approaches.

 

The BSB51107 Diploma of Management requires a sound theoretical knowledge base and managerial competencies to plan, carry out and evaluate own work and/or the work of a team.

Manage Projects - BSBPMG510A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage a straightforward project or a section of a larger project. This unit addresses the management of projects including the development of a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalizing the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learnt for application to future projects. The unit focuses on the application of project management skills and the requirement to meet time lines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other requirements set for the project. The unit does not apply to specialist projects managers.

Manage People Performance - BSBMGT502B

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the performance of staff who report to them directly. Development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, coupled with regular and timely coaching and feedback, provide the basis for performance management.

This unit applies to all managers and team leaders who manage people. It covers work allocation and the methods to review performance, reward excellence and provide feedback where there is a need for improvement. The unit makes the link between performance management and performance development, and reinforces both functions as a key requirement for effective managers. This is a unit that all managers, prospective managers who have responsibility for other employees should strongly consider undertaking.

Manage Budgets and Financial Plans - BSBFIM501A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to undertake financial management within a work team in an organisation. This includes planning and implementing financial management approaches, supporting team members whose role involves aspects of financial operations, monitoring and controlling finances, and reviewing and evaluating effectiveness of financial management processes in line with the financial objectives of the work team and the organisation.

This unit addresses the requirement for managers to ensure that financial resources are used effectively. This is done by ensuring access to budget/s and ongoing monitoring expenditure against the budget/s. The unit applies to managers working in small and large business environments and not for profit organisations.

Develop and Implement Strategic Plans - BSBMGT616A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish the strategic direction of the organisation, and to sustain competitive advantage and enhance competitiveness. It requires analysis and interpretation of relevant markets, capability assessment of the organisation, and its existing and potential competitors and allies. It also covers implementation of the strategic plan

 Ensure team effectiveness - BSBWOR502A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate all aspects of teamwork within the organisation. It involves taking a leadership role in the development of team plans, leading and facilitating teamwork and actively engaging with the management of the organisation.

 Facilitate continuous improvement - BSBMGT516A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to lead and manage continuous improvement systems and processes. Particular emphasis is on the development of systems and the analysis of information to monitor and adjust performance strategies, and to manage opportunities for further improvements.

Manage risk - BSBRSK501A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across the organisation or for a specific business unit or area.

Manage operational plan - BSBMGT515A

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop and monitor implementation of the operational plan to provide efficient and effective workplace practices within the organisation’s productivity and profitability plans.

Management at a strategic level requires systems and procedures to be developed and implemented to facilitate the organisation’s operational plan.

Jack Fraenkel - Principal Consultant, Learning and Development
 
Jack Fraenkel is an established business and franchise consultant, motivational speaker and corporate trainer with over 30 years of sales, management and commercial experience gained both overseas and in Australia.
 
As a regular contributor to publications such as Australian Business News, Service Station News, Franchising & Own Your Own Business, National Accountant, Print 21 and Around Canberra Magazine, on topics including, training and development, customer service and sales and marketing. Jack has owned and operated a variety of specialist retail stores and two business services franchises.
 
His extensive knowledge of Financial Management Customer Service and Sales Skills was honed internationally as the general manager of the largest duty free retailer in Australia. On a regular basis, Jack provides business advice to start-up and growing businesses as a volunteer with the St George & Sutherland Business Enterprise Centre. He frequently presents the marketing curriculum under the auspices of the Eastern Suburbs Business Enterprise Centre. Since 2002, Jack has been a Councillor with the Southern Sydney Regional Council of Australian Business Limited.
 
Jack has been a regular presenter in the Women In Business courses run across the state by the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development. Numerous business owners have benefited from these presentations and Jack’s wealth of experience in the business world..
Jack is an entertaining presenter with a remarkable ability to share his knowledge and experience in an educational, fun and riveting manner.

The remaining training sessions will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month thereafter.
